Privacy Policy

Last updated September 2026

PhiDox is built so that this page can be short. There is no account, no server, and no data collection to describe — this policy exists to say so plainly and to be specific about the few things worth being specific about.

What PhiDox collects

Nothing. PhiDox has no user accounts, makes no network requests, and includes no analytics, crash reporting, or advertising software of any kind. Everything you write — entries, symbols, meanings, practices, and sound programs — is stored only in your device's local app storage. It is never transmitted anywhere by PhiDox, is not visible to us, and is not backed up to any server we operate.

Dictation

When you use the microphone to speak an entry, transcription is performed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition. Audio is not uploaded, and PhiDox refuses to start dictation rather than fall back to a network-based transcription service.

Biometric lock

If you enable Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode protection, authentication is handled by iOS itself. PhiDox never receives or stores your biometric data — it only receives a yes/no result from the operating system.

In-app purchases

PhiDox Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. PhiDox does not receive, process, or store your payment information. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy, not this one.

Your export, your choice

PhiDox can export your journal to Markdown or JSON files, which you share using iOS's standard share sheet. What you do with an exported file — where you save it, whether you sync it to a cloud service — is entirely your decision and outside PhiDox's control once it leaves the app.

Children's privacy

PhiDox does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If PhiDox ever changes in a way that affects this policy — for example, by adding an optional sync feature — this page will be updated first, and the change will be described plainly, the same way the rest of this page is written.
